WORLD VISION : ALWAR RAJASTHAN, INDIA
"Creating Hope through Action"
This was a brief project under World Vision I took part in on World Suicide Prevention Day.
In one of the remote places in Rajasthan, World Vision's project reached out to many in attempt to educate the people of the village on the importance of mental health. This was an endearing yet impactful project because of the willingness of the village dwellers to take part in it and I got to meet people with different stories to tell. The young girls volunteering as part time teachers because they are extremely enthusiastic to impart knowledge and giving back what they have learned and the parents who are mostly farmers showing up to hear and learn what they could. This project reminded me of the meaningful vocation of photography and how it takes me to places, connecting with different kinds of people and above all making it a deeply rewarding and endearing endeavour.
WORLD VISION INDIA
When it comes to underprivileged in education, healthcare and other basic facilities, children in India suffers great hardships especially a girl child. From unwanted births to discrimination in their own families, they struggle to fight for their rights in getting educated while their brothers are sent to schools just because of their gender.
These projects, in Rajasthan and in Uttar Pradesh was an unforgettable project personally because I had the opportunity to speak to the children and talk about their struggles. Our goal as an organisation and as a team was to get these children back into schools by recording their stories and find sponsors for them.
The struggles and challenges they go through is not just for basic amenities but also emotional and physical manipulation by the illiterate village authorities and men in power who do not believe in education and further restrict these children through abuse and power.
