Project Parameters

Taking a quote of seven or more words, a design was to be created focusing on the harmony of the meaning of the words and the typefaces they were in. No more than five colors were allowed, and no photography or illustration. subtle backgrounds and textures could be used. Emphasis was to be placed on the contrast of the text to the background. Adobe InDesign was the required software to be used.

There were a lot of changes made during this design. I wanted to take a deeper approach by using darker colors and a much simpler background, but I was inspired to change to a light color scheme. Though the primary background is white and the text is black, the contrast goes beyond. The light colors used draw out the text to an even greater extent. The typefaces capture the meaning of this verse found in the Old Testament of the Bible. The typeface used for the majority of the design is not ugly, but it is rough. This contrasts the clean and orderly background, as if to say "Our time has not yet come to be made beautiful." A very bold yet elegant typeface sets it apart as the ideal to be arrived at, joined by the background.
Final Mockup

Using a free mockup, the quote was put into a real-world design setting.
