ULTRA-SLIM WATER BUTT
Introducing the Ultra Slim Water Butt, a versatile solution suitable for various house types and garden settings. This innovative design effectively addresses water scarcity driven by climate change. Its dual purpose extends to both household needs and garden irrigation. Embracing circular and regenerative principles, we've opted for recycled plastic as the material of choice. Our target audience comprises homeowners and garden enthusiasts who seek sustainable water management for their daily living and gardening practices.
Concept
The initial idea involved a sleek water butt designed to be mounted on a wall. Subsequently, the concept evolved to incorporate adjustable legs, allowing users to customize the height according to their needs and the height of the watering can.
PROTOTYPING & DEVELOPMENT
Development
I progressed from the prototyping stage to create a full-size mock-up of the finalized idea. This step was crucial for utilizing the data I had collected on the positioning of water butt taps, their distance from the ground, and the dimensions of watering cans. Initially, adjustable legs weren't part of the design because their structure risked compromising the water butt's stability. Consequently, I had to augment the leg size, a modification that not only addressed the structural concerns but also enhanced the overall concept, ultimately leading to my final design.
