Lovecraftian Fantasy, also known as Lovecraftian Horror, is a subgenre of speculative fiction that draws its themes, atmosphere, and elements from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, an influential American writer of weird and horror fiction in the early 20th century. Lovecraft's stories often explored cosmic horror, a genre that emphasizes the insignificance of humanity in the face of vast, incomprehensible, and malevolent cosmic forces.

Notable works by H.P. Lovecraft include "The Call of Cthulhu," "At the Mountains of Madness," and "The Shadow over Innsmouth."

DESIGN PROCESS
Dvornechuck, A. (2023) 10 Best Fantasy Fonts for Designers, Arek Dvornechuck-Your Outsourced Branding Expert. Available at: https://www.ebaqdesign.com/blog/fantasy-fonts (Accessed: 23 September 2023).
In the design process of creating the "Cthulhu" font, I drew inspiration from the eerie and captivating world of Fantasy fonts from various different creators and illustrators. This genre is known for its otherworldly and cosmic elements, and I aimed to encapsulate these characteristics in my font design. To achieve this, I meticulously crafted each letter with careful attention to detail. One of the distinctive features of the font is the incorporation of tentacle-like designs that flow from the tail ends of many letters. These tentacles not only add a unique visual element but also evoke the mysterious and enigmatic essence often associated with Lovecraftian themes. For capital letters, I intentionally included multiple tentacle tails, intensifying the font's fantastical nature. Conversely, non-capital letters typically feature one tentacle tail, maintaining a harmonious balance. Another crucial design choice was the deliberate avoidance of straight lines in favour of sinuous curves. This curvature serves to further emphasize the font's unconventional and fantastical aesthetic, creating a visual language that transports the viewer into the realm of Lovecraftian imagination. By infusing each letter with these carefully considered elements, I aimed to craft a font that not only pays homage to the Lovecraftian genre but also stands as a unique and captivating creation in its own right.
