Karnataka Tourism, as part of itspromotional efforts, wanted to target the large group of expat population inBangalore and diplomats who visit the state regularly. They wanted to tellthese groups that with Bangalore as the base, they could plan their travel toany destination of their choice in Karnataka.
Using the database, send DirectMailers to make Karnataka Tourism top-of-mind. The objective was to get peopleto visit the major tourist attractions of the state through a well-designedmailer, which will also be a guide on where to travel and what to see – if theyhad a few days to spend in Bangalore.
We did not want to sendthem something boring or repetitive. So instead of a visual-heavy brochure, wecreated a new set of illustrations on Karnataka. Illustrations in contemporarystyle that portrayed the rich culture and heritage of the state, whileintroducing the tourist attractions. These were then conceptualized as 
‘Eleventhings to do in Karnataka’ (as these were being sent during December and thefollowing year was ‘11’). The kit had a brochure, a notepad and a personalletter from the Director of Tourism.
