Ô
A celebration of water in the Novoceram booth at Cersaie 2010
In french Ô is a letter that sounds exactly like the word "eau", water. And water is in fact the main concept of this interior design project conceived for the French ceramics oldest haute couture company, Novoceram at Cersaie, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings, in Bologna (Italy).
The aim of the design is to give yet another demonstration of the brand daring, with a new and even larger stand entirely dedicated to the theme of water, to celebrate this vital but threatened element, confirmation of its commitment to conserving this resource throughout its production cycle.
On the outside of the stand, a giant Ô announces the concept, together with the detail of an aquatic organism enormously magnified and repeated on the walls.  Visitors entering the stand will have the impression of crossing a waterfall and following a shoal of 400 diaphanous fish hanging from the ceiling.
Inside, broken up by drop-shaped walls covered by thick fish scales with a metallic glint, the reception area is bathed in a cascade of crystal glass bubbles representing the thousands of iodised oxygen bubbles which rise to the surface. Tracks marked out on the floor by water-jet cut tiles indicate the way to the negotiations area, surmounted by a colony of 12 luminous jellyfish with fine pearled crystal tentacles.
