This project represents a collective effort involving students from the Kharkiv Art Academy collaborating with the Assa publishing house. The series of books focuses on notable Ukrainian figures, with a primary target audience of children. However, many adults will also discover a wealth of new information within these pages. The main objective is to convey to children the rich history of our country and introduce them to the extraordinary and intriguing individuals who have played a significant role in shaping it. This is done in a way that is both accessible and captivating.
As of now, two books from this series are available for purchase, while another one is currently in the final stages of preparation before it goes to print.
The first book tells about famous personalities from all over the world who have Ukrainian roots. My three illustrations here were Katerina Desnitska, Miklouho-Maclay and Gaidemar Stefanyshyn-Piper.
The second book tells about famous Ukrainian women of different professions - athletes, inventors, artists and many others. I painted portraits for her of Sofia Rusova (teacher), Liliya Podkopaeva (athlete) and Valentina Radzimovskaya (chemist and doctor).
The third book raises the topic of myths of Ukrainian history. First, the myth itself is told - the most famous popular idea of a story. Then there is a commentary from historical researchers about how modern science relates to this, whether it confirms or refutes it.
