(SG75 Art Competition) Flavours of Unity
The artwork explores the concept of Singapore as a cultural melting pot. Through a fond memory of a steamboat gathering during Chinese New Year, where everyone brought their favourite ingredients, I realised that being a melting pot, much like a hot pot, means sharing and appreciating diverse aspects of cultures, even if not universally liked.
This is because every cultural element enriches our society, creating a harmonious blend of richness and flavour. The artwork visually represents this, showcasing different races and cultures coming together in a hot pot.
Being a melting pot is not about assimilating others; it is about coming together, valuing diversity, and embracing traditions so that everyone is happy and feels at home.
