Snow White and the Huntsman - Promotional Website

The Challenge
 
Universal Studios Home Entertainment asked us to create a promotional website to drive pre-orders of the Blu-Ray/DVD release of the movie “Snow White and the Huntsman”. Driving social engagement and videos views were a secondary goal.
 
Solution
 
We created a promotional site that focused on the fantastic settings and epic story of the film. All activities were references to scenes in the movie, keeping the memory of the theater experience fresh before the release of the Blu-Ray. All activities were “spell” based, using the names of spells in place of codes to fit with the theme. Users earned spells for chances to win daily prizes and entries to  a grand prize trip to Ireland. Activities included an arcade style game, trivia, hidden image puzzles and social registration that allowed users to pick a side between the good guys and the bad guys.
 
I lead a team that included another CD/writer, a UX designer and three AD’s. The timing was challenging and the entire site was sitemapped, wireframed and designed in two weeks. The site ultimately garnered 30 million impressions, 230,000 video views and 700,000 individuals playing our games.
 
On the week of its release “Snow White and the Huntsman” was the number one Blu-Ray/DVD seller.
