Series "Metaphysical portrait".
This series was born when I took up my brush after a long break. Having finished the first portrait, I
stared at it for a long time. I sensed the presence of the depicted man. The presence was akin to a kind
of metaphysical immersion of oneself into his way of life.
Every portrait from the series is there to evoke such a response. Years later, to look at one means to
remember who he was, what he did, and how he spoke and the way he turned his head and how he
would respond to me.
Only having completed the series I realised what it means to draw a portrait.
