Turn Off the Light Before You Think Wrong of Me

To live in the city and not to live in it. To break out of the rhythm and to take a sip of unregistered air. To sneak through canals, tunnels, pits, to observe from below and above, never – from the level of a bystander's eyes. To afford the luxury of disappearance. To feel scare and to gasp.

Urban transition zones, existing only out of necessity, naturally arouse discomfort in the passerby – the impression of interacting with a silent, mysterious and inaccessible space commands us to speed up our step on the way to the exit. However, if we overcome the instinct and stop, we will get a chance to enjoy a peculiar spectacle. The senses will sharpen, the flurry of thoughts will subside, the dancing shadows of past and future commitments will begin to emerge from the gloom, and the silence will be broken by a distant din, synchronized with the beat of our heart. The throbbing organism, normally indifferent, will uniquely direct its gaze at us – it is up to us whether it fills us with fear or with hope. One step is enough to make the illusion a real thing.

The film was presented at the final year exhibition of the Department of Intermedia ANTIMATERIES at the University of the Arts in Poznań.
