1.5 hr personal creative challenge
I re-imagined and refined the visual look of the menu for one of my favourite restaurants in Halifax, Sea Smoke. The restaurant is situated on the boardwalk, facing the harbour, serving delicious and creatively prepared dishes with a primary focus on seafood.
A few creative thoughts that went into this…
The scale-like pattern reflects ocean life, the bottom-set waves on the front represent the sea, and the light pattern on the top of the back represents smoke.
The use of negative space, clean alignment, refined palette, legible typefaces, and overall contrast, give this menu a fresh and sophisticated look to match the atmosphere and quality. All the while, maintaining a playful edge with the textures and curves, connecting to the creativity in each dish.
