This redesign of BIC’s packaging played off the idea of a pocket protector. The package was designed with varying plaid patterns with the pencils coming slightly out of the packaging, as if they were clipped onto a shirt. The exposed pencils allow people to see and touch the product, while the colorful patterns help it stand out from the crowd and allow people to pick the pattern they find most appealing.
