Design for wall charts distributed worldwide to printers, agencies and other lucky recipients to generate exposure for the Trucard brand during the World Cup. Each element was printed on a different Trucard stock to showcase the range, whilst folding, die-cutting, kiss-cutting, laminating, spot UV and embossing were all incorporated to showcase the capabilities of the Trucard paper. The final wall chart was distributed worldwide to countries in Europe, Africa and South America. 

A distinctive look and feel, embracing striking photography and a rich colour palette was key. Firstly, I introduced the backdrop of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil's capital city and the home of the World Cup final. I then combined the cityscape with the celebratory image of the Brazilian footballer emulating Christ the Redeemer, the iconic statue that towers over the city. Finally, I added the painted brush effects to add some Brazilian 'Ginga' – the freedom and creativity embodied by Brazilian football.

On top of the rich visual design I also engineered team sheets with 3D tabs to allow the user to follow their team on the journey to the final. These pop-out tabs flexed and slotted into place in the wall chart throughout the group and knock-out phases of the competition. As well as adding depth to the chart each tab showcased Trucard's credentials.

After researching Brazilian typography I discovered an authentic hand-drawn font by Ricardo Carvalho, a fontographer from São Paulo. 'Carona' was inspired by mural type found on the walls throughout the country and fitted perfectly with the visual style I wanted to create. I crafted the headline style and all supporting type by mixing the sizes and cases of the letterforms to develop a bespoke style.

To hold the folded wall chart and the team sheets, I also created an impactful outer sleeve. The iconic Brazilian flag and bold header style combined to create an unmistakable outer with a strong iconic style.
