THE DARK ARTS INDIA PALE ALE
Large commercial breweries tend to stay in their lane, and unfortunately many craft breweries follow what the big dogs do. Indie music, indie games and indie breweries, should push the envelope of what constitutes a "good" packaging design for even a fairly traditional product straight off a cliff. Beer branding can be dangerous, transgressive and darkly humorous, and probably should be.

My Role:
As per normal with personal projects, my role was everything from early ideation to storyboards and research, sketches and preliminary mockups to final production.

Challenges Faced:
I set out to imagine; what if Skeletor, in between his never ending battle to destroy that meddling He-man and take over Eternia once and for all, opened a craft brewery? Somehow, things became increasingly pirate-oriented. If Skeletor sailed the high seas, he'd be more Black Beard than Admiral Nelson anyway. The main challenges were finding an appropriately quirky tone that moved beyond anything Masters of the Universe would generate, and into something truly original. If Skeletor opened a craft brewery and was also a cyber-punk pirate.
