Product Review: Gettin’ my Granny Panties on...

Who

Primarily known for being formaldehyde free and tagged with cheeky names (hence the company name), this nail polish serves so much more than decorated phalanges.  Not only is Cheeky Monkey recognized as a 5-Free product: formaldehyde, toluene, DPB, camphor and paraben free, and on top of that, Canadian, but the positive message behind the brand completes this experience.  Each bottle comes with a small notecard attached with an inspirational quote.  Of the three bottles that I sampled, the quote that spoke to me the most in that moment was, ‘If you feel beautiful and empowered you will fill your space with positive energy.’  In an industry such as beauty, that can tend to be critical and at times harsh, it was refreshing to be reinforced with such positivity and warmth.

What

A fun, varied array of 5-Free nail polish colours and a great message!
I tested: Granny Panties, With the Band & Yummy Mummy.

Performance

This product went on smooth like butter (channelling my best Paula Deen imitation here).  Following the instructions on the side of the bottle is key – read: Apply base coat, two coats of polish, and finish with a top coat.  Though I was able to get away with one coat of With the Band while rushing out the door to an event, two coats is preferable as it gives a smooth and full-colour finish.  Most importantly, this polish has staying power!  As with any polish, the tips can tend to get scratched when nails are a bit longer.  In my experience, applying a top coat can help with this.

Rounding Up

This is a brand I can get behind.  I enjoyed and continue to enjoy using these fun and definitely cheeky polishes.  My experience right down to the easy to grip brush has been positive; the product is great, and I completely support empowering women while they get their beauty on.
