Shatila: Chaos Re-Organized (Senior Project)

Humanity often faces incidents that disrupt lives. Violent conflicts, food insecurity, environmental degradation and countless other factors drove more than 3 million people to leave their country as refugees in order to seek asylum, and they live in slums.
I propose a place for the improvement of the quality of life of the residents, and a vocational school for vocational training. This decision was made taking into consideration the main factors that restrict the improvement of the quality of life of the residents. Lack of opportunities in employment and education mean that these people have no way to actively progress in their daily life. This program provides the tools not to only find gainful employment, but to also make drastic changes to their existing living conditions, until the crisis is over, and the refugees return home.
But our project is not just about education. We believe that physical activity is very important, especially for the young people who grew up in such a difficult environment. That's why we also built a sports city so that the residents and exercise and play for free.
Finally, this project is not only about providing education and sports activities. It is more about providing a sense of community and unity. We believe that this project could make a drastic impact in the life of the residents of Shatila and their surroundings.
