La Citrouille

La Citrouille is a venue for contemporary music in Saint-Brieuc, featuring a concert hall, a club, studios, and a sound booth. It serves as a hub for sound artists and musical experimentation. For the 2018-2019 season, the upcoming visual universe will need to highlight the venue's inclusivity for all audiences, emphasize musical discovery, and encourage open-mindedness and curiosity.
Promoting Musical Diversity
As a designated SMAC (scene of contemporary music) by the French Ministry of Culture, La Citrouille supports musical creation, facilitating the emergence and dissemination of shows across a diverse range of contemporary music genres. The line-up is rich, diverse, and eclectic, mixing styles, influences, and repertoires. Artists from different musical contexts rethink, subvert, and reinterpret codes, creating a sonic hybridisation in which genres mix and influence each other.
The challenge for this new season was to visually convey the porosity of musical boundaries. The graphic vocabulary draws from the imagery, cultural, aesthetic, and sartorial codes specific to each musical style, resulting in a quarterly visual mix of different musical genres.
Stickers
Inspired by the stickers found on old vinyl record covers which make the La Citrouille logo, helped to create a link between the various collaterals. The small, hastily-affixed stickers add an urban and vibrant touch that contrasts with the overall visual design. Available in multiple colors, they are distributed to the public as collectibles or as concert souvenirs. This allows the public to appropriate the stage's aesthetic codes. La Citrouille is thus projected beyond its walls, and the public becomes an active participant in the process.
