The Challenge
I was tasked with redesigning CrossComm’s company website. The goal was to create a site that better communicated the companies culture, mission and services. It need to be flexible, editable, and adaptable. In order to achieve this, we decided the new layout would need be modular. The modular structure would make it easy for editors to add, rearrange, or remove pages without the help of a developer.
Role: UX/UI Designer
Discovery & Planning
The first step of the process was reviewing the current website. Working with the marketing team, we made a list hi-lighting the pros and cons of each page. The company has a rich history, so it was very important that the new design illustrated that through customer centered photography, copy, and graphics. The website couldn’t simply be a flashy portfolio piece, it need to tell a story and guide users through each page. It needed to serve as a digital home base for everything CrossComm.

After meeting with the company’s stakeholders, we decided the best way to do that was from scratch. The marketing put together a document containing a list of features and requirements the new site should have. Using the requirement sheet, I designed a series wireframes and mockups.
Modular Design
The new Crosscomm website was built to last. We wanted each page and section of the website to be scalable. Using a modular design approach, I built sections that could be stacked, rearranged, and reused. The modular structure paired with our headless CMS Contentful have our marketing team full autonomy in creating and publishing content.
