Brochure
For the brochure project, each student was tasked with creating a travel brochure, highlighting specific features of their chosen location. I chose to do Yosemite National Park in California. I have personally been to Yosemite and was awestruck by the panoramic view as soon as you enter the national park. I wanted that view to be my main focus, so I used the same picture on both the outside and inside.
For the outside of the brochure, there is the cover page, a mailer, and a information page on waterfall hikes. The cover page photo is a zoomed in section for the photo on the inside. I wanted the brochure to have cohesion and for the opening of the brochure to mimic the expansion of a photograph. For the title on the cover page, I used the same color on all three words, but decreased the opacity with each line. I wanted the words to imitate the fading layers of mountains. The waterfall hikes page includes four of the most common waterfalls in Yosemite, with brief details about each one.
For the inside of the brochure, I used the entire photo that was on the cover page. I labeled four of the most iconic hikes in the national park that are also visible in the photo. Each hike has a short description to it, along with the hike's length, elevation, and difficulty rating. Lastly, the name of the hike is traced back to the labeling number with a dashed line that is supposed to imitate a hiking trail.
