I was recently hired to design the app icon for a new note-taking app called "UpNote". The selling point of the app is an upwards gesture interface. The brief stated that the app icon should use the existing colour scheme. I was also asked to design a simple launch screen.
I've avoided the usual productivity and note–taking trends of using a pencil icon or a "check" mark. Instead I've gone for a more abstract design. The origami bird suggests that the notepaper has taken flight and has flown "up". You can check out the final design below or read the full case study on my personal site.
