TOPOGRAPHY
Our design strategy for the topography of the site was driven by what children want keeping in mind the the other users that may visit the site.
The old concrete buildup of the site was reused as a fill to transform the flat and faceless site into a system of mounds, hills and valley. These calculated changes in the topography help create micro-climates that support the 4 distinct ecozones.
The 3 distinct topographic moves that we made were
- To create depressions that allow water to enter the riparian zone. (Ponds)
- To re- use the concrete fill to create mounds (Meadow)
- To create a gentle slope that can foster connection between land and water

CIRCULATION
Circulation follows this idea of creating distinct thresholds for children to read cues and encourage exploration
Our primary/main circulation leds to children from the homebase to the 4 second base that are located in 4 different zones. The boardwalk acts as the main circulation that breaks into a stone path (secondary) that take you to the 2nd base.
The meandering 2nd circulation acts as a cue to allow users to take led and explore the site on their own.
The dry creek on site acts as a trail during the hot summers.
