MECHANIMALS - CYBER KITSUNE & ŌKAMI MASKS
Posters Collection
There is something about traditional Japanese masks that I've always found appealing, especially the Kitsune ( - fox) one. Associated with Inari, a Shinto divinity, the fox-like creature has been represented through many mediums and is mostly famous for its varying number of tails which indicates its power/wisdom level.

Another less known creature of the Japanese folklore is the Ōkami ( - wolf), and more precisely the Okuri Ōkami, a kind of wolf/dog-like beast that is said to either guide or trick lost travellers. However, its popularity rose thanks to a video game of the same name where the player embodies a divine white wolf representsing Amaterasu, the Shinto goddess of the Sun.

For this project, I wanted to rework those 2 creatures' masks in a Cyber/Mecha style to bring a "futuristic" twist to their traditional aspects and combine them with some Acid/Brutalist aesthetic details. I also added some Holographic background elements to bring a touch of colour and enhance the mystical/supernatural nature of the creatures. As usual, I also played with Gradient maps to create some variants. Let me know in the comments which one you prefer :)

Hope you will enjoy !
