The Brief
To create a book that contains a series of hand-lettered and illustrated quotes for the Oxford Literary Festival (sponsored by FT Weekend). This book will be made available to those who attend this event. If possible, at least one of the designs within will be carried across to poster designs in order to promote this festival which takes place in March (details are on their website).
The Design
Most of my designs have been drawn traditionally although I did colour some in Adobe Photoshop. I undertook each quote as a separate brief so that I could concentrate on finding its "voice" and produce a piece that reflects it. These quotes have been chosen at random although I aimed to mostly use the ones that derived from literature and fit within the subject areas that the festival covered.
Thoughts
This project was a bit challenging as I was still new to the subject area - having only done it once previously - and so there was a lot to learn over the past few months. I'm pleased to say that I have come very far from where I was before and I was able to hone my illustrative skills.
