CRT 320 Final Project

For my final project, I chose to use the Shop Bot to create juice grooves in my cutting boards and charcuterie boards.
The Inspiration
I wanted to create juice grooves in my boards without using a router because I do not own one, and I would not want to have to build custom made juice groove templates for my router to follow for each board. Modeling them on Fusion 360 was much easier and faster.
The Process
First I used Fusion 360 to create a rectangle cutting board with changeable parameters that I could modify to fit any rectangle board. That was my process for the first board. For the more organic shaped ones, I custom made the juice groove pattern.
Here is an in process photo of the charcuterie board after the pockets were cut.
Here is the test board I used to make sure the pattern and depth were accurate.

Every board was sanded and has one coat of Watco Bucher's Block. The woods used are black walnut and sycamore. The grooves turned out very well and defined. In the round board, I added epoxy to the groove for some dimension and also cause I wanted to try it to see how it would look.
