Notorious BS3 are the greatest hip hop act ever to have come out of Bedminster. In their own words:
"a tour de force (of nature)... straight up gangsta rap aligning with all the latest health and safety policy. Think Snoop Dogg meets Michael Buble."
I'd talked with the band about a promo shoot for a while, working out what they wanted to achieve, and how to get there. The concept was set as a tongue-in-cheek take on typical gangster cliches - think big fake bling and water pistols - and we sorted props and locations to suit.
We started out in front of some graffiti in (naturally) BS3.
The band loved the location and busted out some serious shapes:
First location in the bag, the band had loosened up, so we jumped in the car and headed to our second location - a children's playground also in (naturally) BS3 - to push that tongue further in cheek. It was raining, but every cloud has a silver lining, and in this case the rain meant that the playground was deserted:
All in all, we wrapped the two locations (including setting up and tearing down the lights at each location and a drive and a walk in between) in about an hour.
The band loved the shots (and were happy to get back in the dry).
Look out for Notorious BS3 at a venue near you soon, or head over to their Soundcloud.
PS: I also shot some of the band's outrageous bling, styled to tie in with their vibrant look:
