The Knight Beetles Project is a deck of 54 cards that takes a new and captivating approach to traditional playing cards. Each suit has a distinct visual style: hearts represent the ice faction, diamonds are knights, clubs symbolize the dead faction, and spades are steampunk. Suits of the project achieves a minimalistic appearance that complements the illustrations and numbers on the cards by utilizing simple forms.
An exceptional aspect of the Knight Beetles project is the use of four different colors for each suit. While some may find this aspect inconvenient, others may benefit from it. Adobe Illustrator was utilized to create the entire project, relying heavily on the Shape Builder and Pen Tool tools. The cover of the cards depicts the movement of beetles through burrows, adding a sense of mystery and intrigue to the deck.
