I created a collage of a yellow bird surrounded by skulls and dark leaves. I wanted to symbolize the bird’s optimism even though the chance of being freed is very slim. I left the background empty to represent that the bird’s loneliness as well as to show that no one hears his cry for freedom.

 

I placed the words “I Know Why the” inside of the word “Caged” to make it seem like they are encaged by the word. The words “Bird Sings” are outside of the word ‘caged’ to symbolize that bird’s voice is heard outside of the cage.
