I lead the UX on this project and Matt Homer was involved both on the UX and the initial visual design which later was updated and completed by Alex Lambert.

The aim was to deliver multi-media content in a news magazine style app for the iPad. We looked at a simple and intuitive ways to access content, with the use of a standard iOS tab-bar to navigate through the main sections, which divided the content by categories but allowed easy switching between them. Direct access to content could also be accessed from a 'front page' or dashboard, displaying featured articles. Summary versions of articles lead by rich photography allowed the content to be more engaging and more visual while browsing. But then when viewing content in the article view the focus was on the the content. Much time was spent optimising the reading and viewing experience.

This is the initial UI concept, created by Matt Homer. The final UI was created by Alex Lambert.
