Social Classroom | Interactive prototype

Employer: Tigerspike
Client: Pearson Plc

The aim of this project was to design and built a proof of concept app that would help Pearson to make more informative decisions on its future technology investments. Working closely alongside Pearson’s Future Technologies team I helped them to develop the concept of the "Social classroom"  app and I've also delivered all the necessary UX documentation and wireframes for the prototype. The project was managed by Rosetta Ryan and the final prototype was build by David Hillman and Nii Quarcoopome.

Pearson Plc. is one of the largest publishers of educational textbooks in the world and is owner of a number of major publishing brands including Penguin Books and the Financial Times.
Concept visualisation of the closed sharing network
Images, pdf & text documents, videos and internet links are piled and organised by content type
Within each category, files can be moved around organically using gestures, as well as scale sizes. They can always reorganise them within the grid just by taping the 'Grid View' button.
NOTE: The app will remember layout next time user enter that screen.
By default all items are structured within a standard grid. Although users will have the ability to rearrange all items around the screen simply by moving them around changing size and position.
When the "Sharing Module Bar" is expanded users can select which other users to share a file with. On top of the Bar is displayed the name of the network the users are logged into and bellow, the list of users that are currently connected.
When users receive a file, e.g. an image, this appears sliding in from the top of the screen and the standard apple notification informs the user about the incoming item.
Users can attach messages/notes to shared items (documents, photos, etc) and also highlight specific areas.
The final prototype didn't include the full functionality but enough to demonstarte the core concept.
