Custom Portal Hall Table

This hall table is my continued exploration into metal patination.  The base of the table is made from a wood called Wenge from central Africa, and once finished, it has a deep, beautiful brown espresso coloration.  Suspended between the trestles is a steel disc that has been treated with a blend of various chemicals to make it look like a sea of aged copper.  The steel disc is held in place within a segmented ring made up of wenge and accented with Padauk, which comes from West Africa.

The top is made from a live edge Genuine Mahogany slab from the Island of Saint Lucia, and each bowtie is inlaid by hand with a mallet and chisel.

The table stands 33 1/4″ tall and is 60″ long.  The depth of the top is variable due to the natural shape of the slab, approximately ~19″-28″.
