COFFEE SHOP POP UP
WHEN : 2023
WHO : SOPHIE TODD (INDEPENDENT CLIENT)
WHY : LIVE BRIEF
WHAT : TYPOGRAPHIC PRINTS
During the lockdown, many young people (now aged 19-13) didn't get the opportunity to discover themselves and figure out who they really are. They have lost a lot of crucial communication skills and have a fear of confiding in their friends as they may be judged or treated differently. This could be a different story if they spoke to strangers.

Sophie Todd, completing her Visual Communications Level 6 dissertation at Nottingham Trent University, is setting up a series of coffee shop pop-ups which encourage communication with strangers in a judgement-free environment. The shops will partner with independent sellers and have a colour-coded mug system with questions written in each. After being randomly paired up, the drinkers will have until they finish their drinks to chat and answer the questions with a stranger.

Sophie asked me to help set the scene in these coffee shops. She wants walls of framed colourful and typographic posters that feature quotes (not necessarily affirmations) that make you stop and think; some questions, some controversial statements and some 'shower thoughts' (as Sophie puts it).
