The aim of this complex project was to collect, extract and process folk patterns. For that, I chose four traditional costumes- Hutsul, Lemko, outfit from Podlasie (Włodawa) and Lubelskie.
The first step was to collect and analyze samples of clothing and textiles such as rugs. They were all either embroidered or woven, sometimes even both. I chose two samples per region, picked out two colors and few pattern elements. Then I rearranged them into new motifs, built quite similarly to fractals or mandalas, but in limited color palettes. They're all based on circular on square plan. At the end, I chose from each region that one pattern that I was most fond of and transferred it onto a beer bottle label.
