The Luminous Alligator is a legend from the south of Brazil.
Legend has it that there is a huge broad-snouted alligator (Caiman latirostris), with a semi-transparent bluish body, and that in the presence of two young people in love, it lights up its entire body
Reports of this legend emerged around the 1930s, when the construction of an artificial lake in the region destroyed part of the native fauna. Legend has it, that it's a species that managed to survive the destruction and continues to survive in that same location
Despite being said to act like an ordinary animal, this is a completely peaceful forest creature. He does not get into confrontations, preferring not to show himself to other humans
The only occasions when he approaches people, in this case couples, is said to make them even more passionate and distracted. Some versions even say that only such couples can see it.
