This Icon Set is a representation of the 12 Greek Gods: Hephaestus, Zeus, Artemis, Poseidon, Hades, Apollo, Athena, Ares, Hermes, Dionysus, Demeter, Aphrodite.
I liked the simple idea behind some of the symbolism in the gods. But what made it difficult was trying to find the balance between complex and simple. There were a few icons that I started to get too specific with and it just didn't match the feel of it. And there were others that I went too simple with (Sun/Moon). I hope to go back and change them to a harp and a bow when I have some more time. The sketching is very nice it helps you see the simple shapes that you can use to gain those more complex icons.
One of the things that was said to me was to solidify my rules. One of the things that wasn't fully solidified was the strokes. I decided to make all of my strokes just a darker tone of that color. I think it helped my icons come together more.

I think I did well with the icons. Especially when it came to the shading. I think there is definitely more that I can do, and with time I hope to be able to do it quicker. I think these icons are iconic to their person while at the same time being similar to each other and unique to their own. The color palette does well in bringing harmony to the designs and the proximity of each one helps to know who is who. I have had a few different people come by and guess as to which icon is to which god and 9 out of 10 times they got each one correct. I hope to, and plan on, coming back and changing the sun and moon for a harp and bow, again when I have more time or I am quicker at making the icons.
