Throughout my semester studying illustration, my partner Katherine was in a band touring the country, playing a different city or town every weekend. She would embark on Thursday morning and return on Sunday night, having played a festival in the middle of the desert, sweaty clubs in downtown Sydney, or a secluded forest in far-north Queensland. She would send me messages and photographs, and she would call me and tell me about her travels. Inspired by these images and words, I began illustrating a series of portraits of her.
