the WELL-DRESSED Aging Women

One day, I read the history of the development of pink, found that pink at the beginning is not exclusively for young women, it belonged to the aristocracy especially the male aristocracy. Due to the development of the times, it has formed a stereotype: the pink users are young women. If it is an older woman or a man, it is considered inappropriate. There are also social stereotypes about older women in China. It seems that when they getting older, they are not allowed to be young anymore. But for them, don't they have a right to wear what they want? So through this project, I want to explore the stereotypes of older Chinese women and their plight.

This project is a semi-interactive way to present the stereotypes of older women to the audience. I extracted the common styles and patterns of older women's clothing from the market as my model elements. After the extraction, sketching and modeling were done. The models are used to produce the content of the acrylic tiles and illustrations. These models represent the various shackles on aging women. The viewers can stick the magnets on the posters with the mannequins and read the illustrations to understand the various stereotypes of them.
