This fruit bowl was CNC milled and sand blasted to create the unique surface finish. The score line was heated by a blow torch to allow the metal to bend when the correct pressure was applied allowing the bowl to change the angle and shape.
This bowl was drawn in 2D design, the red was used to identify a score line for the machine to cut. The pattern was cut in vinyl on the laser cutter to allow the bowl to be sand blasted where the vinyl wasn't covering.
The initial designs were explored by folding and scoring card to visualise the form and develop the concept. Also testing the size to make sure it is fit for purpose.
Using card to test where the score line should go to create the perfect curve and angle to allow the fruit to sit within the bowl.
