IT WAS A LOVELY DREAM

As they said, « sometimes, it’s not about the happy ending; it’s about the story », and this is what we experienced with our Moroccan national team in the world cup in Qatar.

Three incredibly memorable weeks that will live long in the memory. They may have lost a match or a competition, but they inspired and altered an entire generation. This is the beauty of FOOTBALL.

Even though Qatar served as the host nation, this World Cup will always be associated with Morocco. Nevertheless, I want to thank Qatar for the fantastic accommodations and planning. Since 1930, this is the world cup at its finest.

Thank you for making us proud, and for record breaker as the first African and Arab team to advance to the world cup semi-finals.

« It was a lovely dream » is a photo series where I documented the joy, sorrow, suspense, passion on these three beautiful weeks of word cup in my hometown Ksar el Kebir.
A cafe in Ksar el Kebir full of people watching the second game of Morocco which was against Belgium.
The coffee is full before the start of the game. Every person is looking forward to the beginning of the game.
A man looks at the game from a slight fissure.
Two boys watching the game comfortably while Luis Enrique, the Spanish team's manager is stressed out. This game will stay engraved in the memory of these two boys as the 1988 World Cup for me.
A man raises his hand and asks God for a goal when the Moroccan team has obtained a dangerous foul against France.
The fans were delighted when Morocco scored a goal in the extra time of the game against Belgium.
The fans went crazy after Morocco qualified for the 1/8 playoff round after 36 years.

During this World Cup, the little snack known as "Sindibad" has grown in popularity as a meeting place for fans to assemble and celebrate each Moroccan national team victory.

a semblance of happiness.
The causes and people of Palestine are never forgotten by Moroccans. We will always be brothers.
Throughout the Moroccan game, the city's streets are essentially deserted.
A image that perfectly captures how we felt after suffering our first World Cup loss to France in the semifinal, which put an end to our chances of winning the trophy.
