Barrier Reef Conservation Brochure

Great Barrier Reef Conservation Brochure
Third major project assigned in ARTS 222. Students were required to create a trifold brochure for a tourist location of their choice. I chose to design a brochure for the Great Barrier Reef with a focus on marine life and conservation. The design features a cut out panel in the front that adds depth to the underwater scene and draws attention to the coral reef. Vivid colors and rounded, organic shapes reflect the unique and vibrant life that the reef provides shelter to, while rectilinear shapes and black provide a sharp contrast symbolic of the looming threats that endanger the marine ecosystem.

This project brought its own unique challenges. It required me to give special consideration to how the layout would dictate organization of content and affect user experience. The limited space on each page also forced me to think of creative ways to divide and fit the text in a way that would not impede readability while also providing an engaging visual experience. Due to the nature of my design, I had to work in multiple Adobe programs and use linked files to achieve the results I was envisioning. Additionally, the unique cutout portion of the brochure required me to edit the mockups I found, thus gaining a better understanding of layers in Photoshop.
