This was our first group project in the Digital Media Advanced course at Yoobee School of Design.

We had less than 48 hours to complete the given brief. For this task, we needed to create
a design for ‘Jobs-R-Us’ under the title of ‘Worst Job Ever’. Our goal was to create
the design so that it changed the audience’s point of view towards
public toilet cleaners, showing them as every day heroes.

Our target audience is male university students aged between 18 and 25,
who need a job to earn money that would happen
most during summer events.

‘Be a hero’ is a job that most people find hard to do. You have to be brave enough to face the stigma

associated with the job, and be a hero to all the people who want to use a clean public toilet.
The artwork is a pixelated art style with a slight comic theme which appeals
to the male students who may have played pixelated games
or read comics when they were younger.

The superhero character is supposed to tie in with the ‘Be a hero’ idea. His name is Porta Lewis,

which is a play on the word ‘Port-a-loo’ which is a common colloquial name for the portable toilet.

Porta Lewis is a normal guy who took a job cleaning toilets, and now is a hero to everyone who

wants to use them. He wears a blue and red costume cape, with the letters ‘PL’
on his chest, parodying the popular Superman. He holds a water blaster hose
in one hand, and a yellow bucket in the other. These are items that
we researched and found a toilet cleaner would use in real life.
