Stylistic Drawings: Red Panda

Stylistic Drawings: Red Panda
The goal of this project is to create different aspects of a chosen animal using 4 different stylistic drawings: an encyclopedia drawing, a gesture drawing, a logo design, and a transformative drawing. Using a printed reference photo, the encyclopedia drawing was drawn first.
Reference photo: red panda
To make the encyclopedia drawing, I used the graphite transfer method to outline the shape of the red panda. I did this by etching a layer of graphite (using a pencil) on the back of the printed red panda photo. After placing a sheet of bristol board underneath the red panda photo, I lightly traced the outline of the red panda on top of the reference photo. Doing this transferred the outline I traced onto the bristol board underneath. From there, I used the photo as a reference to color in the red panda outline to make it look realistic. Here is the finished result:

Next, I was required to make over 18 different logo sketches. To do this, I used tracing paper on top of the photo reference to capture the body of the red panda. From there, I made several different logos, making sure each logo was simplistic and without small details (because small details are lost if the logo was to be scaled down). Here are the 18 logos that were created: (the top logos are the most favored)
From the 18 logos, I had to choose a single logo to finalized and digitize using Adobe Illustrator. Here is the final logo result:

The third drawing style I needed to use is called gesture. Gesture drawings capture the essence of a particular thing or animal, in this case. For this project, I had to create over 20 gesture drawings of the red panda using a variety of mediums (paints, ink, pencil, charcoal). Here is the results of my gesture drawings:

Lastly, I made the transformation drawing. This drawing required me to add or change something about the red panda, using characteristics and things the red panda reminded me of. I instantly thought of the restaurant Panda Express, so I incorporated aspects of that restaurant into my new design. Altogether, I had to make 9 different transformation drawings:
