This is one of my briefs at the Yoobee School of Design. For this brief I chose to design the hoarding
for the V&A (Victoria and Albert) museum that will be erected around the site to inspire the public
while the redevelopment work for the museum is taking place.

This is effectively what the design will look like on the real hoarding.

My target audience was senior designers from creative industries who seek further design inspiration.
They want to see design work that belongs to a classic time period, because those works are
unique to their period, and are full of detail to inspire artists to creative their own artwork.
The audience will have seen a lot of modernism, to the point where it becomes repetitive.
They may want to combine modernism with existing classical art to create their own style.
Cleanliness and boldness from modernism, and rich colour and busy design
from vintage will create a meeting point for new art.

Because of this, I came up with the slogan; “V&A, a place where the past meets the present”. I’ve
been gathering ideas from the overlap in time periods as V&A house art collections from both
classical time periods and the modern day.

The floating objects represent how time has stopped here at V&A. Every object has stopped moving
and is waiting for you to come visit.

Minimal use of colours combined with a clean typeface and numbers (representing years) are placed
vertically in the background to remind you of modernism.

The detailed black ink sketches and colour droplets remind you of the past,
represented by vintage handicraft.
