Forgive and Forget // 桃太郎 (Momotaro)

This publication was designed as a part of our Typography II class at the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Throughout this project we designed, typeset, and creatively arranged narratives that merge manners and etiquette with fables and illustrations into a 08-page printed broadsheet publication. For my stories I experiment with type in Japanese, in order to further my study of this language. The folktales and information I used are from the following sources: Momotaro (English) 1908, English, Ozaki, Y.T. (1908). Japanese fairy tales New York A.L. Burt company. Momotaro (Japanese) written by Iwaya, Sazanami, 1870-1933, Author. An wesbsite called, UExpress a website which is a trusted resource for family and relationship advice, health tips, etiquette lessons, personal financial advice, astrology, and more, Is where I found inserts from Miss Manners.

The goal was to design the publication at an advanced level with multiple iterations of typographic and grid studies, I used a 10x10 grid system for placing my text and image, establishing a system for my content to flow. Exploring text and image relationships at an advanced level, establishing concepts for image use. I chose the theme of simplified illustrations and a small color palette.
