Concept
During the class IT Product Design Project 2011 at Aarhus University, we were asked to develop products for the interactive sports field of the future. Our specific focus was how to keep runners motivated on a daily basis, since running often results in only gradual improvement without tangible results from run to run. Learning from the concepts of game mechanichs, we developed inMoJo - INteractive MOtivating JOgging, which is a pair of shoes that "run hot". Initially, they glow with a blue light, but once the user starts running they will gradually turn red, representing a change of state from "cold" to "hot". While running, the user earns "Mojo Points", rises in level and unlocks achievements - such as taking 100 steps in less than a minute. Furthermore, the user can compete with friends on earning most Mojo Points in a defined period of time. All this can be managed at the inMoJo Link station, which is a scale-like device the users can stand on to see current status and arrange challenges with friends - all done seamlessly with built-in RFID tags in the shoes for easy identification.
