PSA POSTERS + AD SERIES
PROJECT STATEMENT
The purpose of the PSA project was to create a poster and ad series that aesthetically makes sense and gives information regarding an issue. The topic of my series was LGBTQ+ awareness which drew inspiration from the stonewall riots. I decided to keep everything black and white and the most important phrases in color from both the lesbian (Pink: C-15 M-75 Y-0 K-0) and gay (Blue: C-46 M-23 Y-0 K-11) flag depending on the context of the poster/ad. With the posturized black and white images there was a timeless effect that shows that this is something that’s been a topic of discussion for a long time. The ads without photos used the wlw and mlm symbols to represent the relationship. The actual text of the piece (Futura PT Extra Bold Oblique) actually comes from a poster created for Stonewall and paid homage to that. Because this was an informative piece, I found my information from the lgbtq.foundation and placed it at the bottom of the posters/ads so it didn’t take away from the overall image and message of the posters. Because of the simplicity throughout the poster/ads it allowed for the overall message to be more clear and impactful.
