Konstepidemin, The Epidemic of Art, is a cultural center in Gothenburg. In 1987 the Epidemic Hospital was transformed into 130 art studios of different size and shape, now housing artists, actors, writers, photographers, film makers, music studios and much more. I was asked to create a modern website for Konstepidemin, to handle events, exhibitions, blog, newsletters, intranet and an online gallery for moving images and sound.

 

The website is built on Wordpress and a custom theme with a responsive layout. It is multilingual using qTranslate, which has the nice feature of recognizing the laguage of the reading device and outputs the right version of the content. Events and exhibitions are created with the Event Organiser plugin, a highly customizable tool that I recommend. 

When logged in, the Intranet provides artists and staff at Konstepidemin with the latest internal news, documents and a message board.

 

With the new website, administration can be kept at a minimum. Event creation is easy and newsletter content is generated automatically with predefined templates. Konstepidemin sends newsletters to over 4000 readers with the latest news exhibitions and events.
