I’ve seen a shift in the way people communicate. There have been big changes to our voices as individuals over the past couple of decades.

 

This series of illustrations shows positive and negative aspects of digital communication. I decided to explore the changes that I’ve seen happen by using my own experiences.  There are some frustrating qualities, I’ve seen harm caused by the many misunderstandings in text based communication. It creates unnecessary confusion, disappointment and ambiguity. There is a lot of overwhelming maintenance involved with having profiles on multiple social networks, not to mention all my unread emails.  With that said, I actually think the positive aspects outweigh.  I absolutely love the way this technology has the power to connect with people near by or far away. I use my phone and computer for daily chatting, sharing and finding art.  I’ve witnessed people celebrating parties, gigs or weddings that they can’t physically attend. When compared with talking to people in the same room, I find that using these forms of digital communication as our personal voice can be just as powerful, meaningful and genuine.
