During the COVID pandemic, we (illustrator Jacqueline Kaulfersch and designer/copywriter Ben Leander) got bored. Stuck at home we were looking for some fun and to connect with the creative community. We decided to start a comic series about our designer life.
LESS IS LESS was born and published via Instagram. We started sharing weekly comics that 'will make designers experience existential pain'.
Besides ourselves we created humanoid and abstract characters like a printer with inferiority complexes and the hourglass whose becoming friends with the colourful loading symbol.
Everything was slowly progressing and we continued our routine of writing down absurd ideas and real-life situations to turn into comics later. A couple of weeks in we were featured by the local newspaper Kleine Zeitung who interviewed us.
After this, the largest German design publication, PAGE magazine, reached out to us asking if we were interested in being featured on the cover of an upcoming release. Of course, we said yes.
Eventually, the cover design was extended to the editorial design of the main article of this month's issue.
To celebrate this success, we re-enacted the cover comic in a real-life photoshoot.
Since then, we keep releasing more comics on Instagram.
