Problem Statement
Problem: There are many broken RAIL, recycle RAIL and RAIL with unsuccessful injected serial numbers in the manufacture.
Pain Point 1: The manufacture workers need to reserve serial numbers from these broken RAIL, recycle RAIL, and RAIL with unsuccessful injected serial numbers manually.
Pain Point 2: The manufacture workers are frustrated with scanning RAILs and checked if the input serial numbers are successful and it produced inefficient workflow in the manufacture.
Solution: Added Serial Number Reservation function to UDX to speed up the workflow and reduced the workers frustrated on inputing and reserve serial numbers process from broken RAIL, recycle RAIL, and RAIL with unsuccessful injected serial numbers.

After discussion and collected feedbacks, the mockup shows more detail on user flow.
By usability tests, Emma liked to input by using scanner to scan the serial number QR code that stick on the surface of the RAIL device, not input by keyboard.

When this project moved forward to build, system integration test and beta testing with customers, I provided help whenever the development team needed.
Reflection
Experiments are important in the software development process. This project was the end of a final design; it was not implemented in the development phase because the engineers were busy on other projects. This experiment would help the engineering department estimate the budget and effectively build schedules. In addition, my work here shows user observation is an efficient way to solve problems.
